The Limerick Lady ~

Hello Hello!
My name is Terry Gifford and I'm excited to let you know that my mom, Liz Adair, will be back to writing her fun and informative newsletter again! So get ready, Limerick time and creative little giveaways (like the one at the bottom of this page) are about to return.

My mom's newsletters are always delightful to read and go out to subscribers, like you, all across the globe.  The personal stories that her readers send in are such a treat as are the clever limericks that Liz and her fans create.

But Liz has not put out a newsletter for over two years.  Nancy, one of her followers, sent an email with a poem:

You may not believe this,
But we really do care.
We miss all your letters,
Dear Liz Adair

If you’ve been ill,
I hope that you’re better.
Take pen to paper,
And write us a letter!

We hope you are rested,
Remodeling done.
It's time to give Spider
a place in the sun.

Love, Nancy.

Thanks for your cute poem Nancy.  I thought I would let you all in on a bit of what Liz has been up to these past two years.

Meet Grizelda ~

Liz and my dad, Derrill, love to roam the red rock country around Kanab, Utah, in their side-by-side ATV they lovingly call 'Grizelda' (pictured in the distance).  They pack a yummy lunch, load up Penny, their dog,  and trundle out to explore miles and miles of gorgeous southern Utah desert. The trails they traverse are not for the faint of heart and I often wonder about my 80 year-old parents recreating in such a manner.

When church meetings were cancelled due to the coronavirus pandemic, Liz made up a hymnal for Sunday service and the beautiful red rock desert became their cathedral with old time favorite hymns their sermon.

Sun Cottage ~

If you are like me, you enjoyed Liz's newsletters documenting the transformation of the 'bunkhouse' into the warm and welcoming studio apartment they call Sun Cottage.

Kanab is at the crossroads of the Grand Canyon, Zion National Park, Bryce National Park and Lake Powell.  It is has been an enjoyable adventure for Liz and Derrill to host Airbnb guests from all over the world. Click HERE for more pictures of Sun Cottage.

Baker Liz ~

One of the treats of visiting my folks is Liz's home made pizza.  My mom is an amazing cook and bread is her specialty.  Guests who stay at Sun Cottage are treated to her home-made bread.  Be it wheat, white or sourdough, Liz's bread is something to write home about.  (Or, of course, a limerick or two.)

Watch Your Inbox ~

Liz took a break from her newsletter because of health reasons.  She calls it her 'rough patch'.  But she is doing better now and plans to begin sending out her newsletter once again, so watch your inbox.

A Bit About Willowbrook ~

The apple doesn't fall far from the tree, and I have been writing my own newsletter, The Willowbrook Word, to share the goings-on of my tea house and chamomile farm located four miles East of Sedro-Woolley, Washington.

Willowbrook Manor English Tea House and Chamomile Farm is my home and I love welcoming guest to enjoy a country experience.  Overnight stays in the manor will begin this summer. You won't want to miss future newsletters that feature pictures of each room and the history of the Willowbrook. Click HERE for previous newsletters.

English Tea ~

I host English Tea events four times a year including: Tea and Tulips in April, Mother's Tea in May, Harvest Tea in October and Holiday Tea in December. I especially relish hosting bridal and baby showers.  Nothing says 'special occasion' quite like an elegant English tea.   Click HERE for more information.

Tea and Tour ~

Willowbrook's Tea and Tour is a summer favorite running from June through to September and features both conventional and electric bikes with routes that share the beauty and history of East Skagit County. Each bike tour begins with delicious tea and scones under the tea tent overlooking the chamomile field. Click HERE for more information.

Glamping ~

Glamour camping (Glamping) is a summer time treat at Willowbrook.  High Camp offers the feel of the great outdoors with the comforts of a luxury hotel.  Guest enjoy tea and scones every morning.  Click HERE for more pictures.

Todays Giveaway ~

I'm giving away sets of Willowbrook note cards to 10 people. Each set contains four different cards with artwork from my youngest daughter, Aliece.  Click HERE to enter for the drawing.

And to finish up, here are a couple of limericks from Liz!

Aliece is an artist of note
Drawing is what floats her boat
I don't mean star-power
But she draws the flower
On the front of the note you just wrote

Don’t worry, I am alive.
Moreover, I’m starting to thrive.
I’ve missed all you friends,
But I’ll make amends.
The Newsletter is gonna survive!
-Liz

Bravo for reading all the way to the end! Make sure to enter the drawing for the note cards.  I look forward to sharing a once-a-month bit of news with you.
